Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted hair growth can appear on many areas of the body and is a problem for both men and women. Whether it’s the bikini area, underarms, upper lip or a hairy back, Light Sheer laser will safely and effectively remove unwanted hair. It is important to know that in women unwanted hair can sometimes be the sign of hormonal abnormalities. For this reason, you will be required to see one of our physicians before you can be scheduled for laser hair treatment. If the doctor suspects hormonal problems, blood work will be performed as part of a comprehensive evaluation.

How does laser hair removal work?
Lasers that remove hair work by being attracted to the pigment at the bottom of the hair follicle. For this reason, laser treatments are best for those with darker hair and light skin. They are not effective for removing blond or gray hairs. Patients with very dark skin may not be candidates for laser hair removal. Our doctors will evaluate you before the procedure to determine if laser hair removal is right for you.

How many treatments will I need?
It is important to understand that the laser will thin the hair out gradually. With each treatment, the hair becomes thinner and less dense. You should plan on doing at least three treatments. If your hair is thick, you may need as many as six to ten sessions.

Does it Hurt?
We do advise you to put a topical lidocaine cream on the area you are treating before you arrive at the office. You can purchase LMX™ cream at the pharmacy or in our office
