Skin Resurfacing

Skin resurfacing is used to improve visible signs of sun damage and natural aging. Resurfacing can be used to treat lines and wrinkles, acne scars, discolorations and to correct minor skin imperfections. There are several procedures that can be used to resurface the face. Each procedure has its own unique way of improving skin’s appearance and in some cases these procedures are used in combination.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing is a new and innovative laser procedure that can dramatically improve skin’s appearance. By delivering tiny cones of laser light to the skin, fractional lasers penetrate deep into the dermal tissue stimulating collagen formation. The beauty of this laser is that while you may experience some redness and swelling after the procedure, there is little downtime. It takes a series of treatment to achieve desired results, but our patients have seen great benefits from fractional laser resurfacing after just a few sessions.

Intense Pulsed Light is the best way to erase sun damage. Brown spots, discoloration and redness can all be improved by IPL treatment. It takes 3-6 treatments to achieve optimal results, but after each treatment you will see a noticeable improvement. IPL is also useful for reducing the redness of rosacea.

Microdermabrasion is the most superficial of all resurfacing procedures. We tell patients that having regular microdermabrasion is kind of like polishing your car. By exfoliating dead skin cells and smoothing the surface, your skin will be more reflective and appear more radiant.

Chemical Peeling - Most people don’t realize that chemical peeling is actually a resurfacing procedure.  Chemical peeling dates back to the days of Cleopatra and is one of the best ways to resurface the skin. Chemical peeling can be superficial, medium or deep depending on the peeling agent used and how long it is applied. Generally speaking you will be red and peel for several days after a chemical peel but the results are well worth it.
